ELIZABETH

REV. ELIZABETH BRAKE
Elizabeth grew up in the United Methodist Church. Her grandfather, Howard Lindsey, is a retired United Methodist pastor. Elizabeth first sensed a call to ministry at the age of 18, but was content just to fill in at her home church when needed. She attended what is now Messiah University and earned a BA in Education and Family Services. When doors didn’t open for employment after over a year, she attended Edinboro University of PA and earned an MA in Rehabilitation Counseling, and later returned to Messiah earning her M.Ed.

When doors still didn’t open for consistent employment, she sat down and asked her home church pastor if he thought she had gifts for ministry. His response: “yes.” She attended licensing school in the Susquehanna Conference in 2018, and was appointed to the Roxbury Charge July of 2018 for an appointment.

In 2020, She sensed God calling her to Ordained ministry. She attended United Theological Seminary, and earned her MDiv. in 2023. She served the Roxbury Charge until the end of April 2025. She joined the Global Methodists in May of 2025 and is currently waiting for an appointment.    ELIZABETH

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

Passing It On Through Discipleship

Rev. Matt Lake
Stryker Hall, Christian Life Center

There may be no more important element to passing on the faith to the next generation than discipleship. And yet, effective discipleship is one of the realities that today’s churches struggle with the most. Churches today do not need another discipleship program. They need a shift in their culture which helps them reclaim the experiential and formational discipleship realities that we hear about in scripture and the times in history when God’s church has thrived. Join us in this workshop as we explore what it means to live into the holy, Biblical tensions found in faithful discipleship and what this looks like at a practical level in your church. Based on years of experience with many different churches, we will explore a proven discipleship approach that more closely resembles the Biblical model of discipleship and shifts the culture of your church by sharing resources, paradigm shifts, and practical tools that any church of any size can implement.

Praying with Power

Mark & Betty Barrow and Jennifer Peat, Aldersgate Renewal Ministries
Main Sanctuary, Evangelical Center

Have you ever felt unsure how to pray for a person or situation? We have an opportunity to lean into the Holy Spirit and pray with His power. Come to learn how we can hear from God and then share what we hear through praying with others. This breakout will have a time of teaching and activation for you to practice listening and praying with the power of the Holy Spirit. This breakout is for all ages, and some of the teaching and activation will model how to teach this to youth and children.

Explore Alpha and The Global Methodist Church

Michelle Tepper, Director of Denomination Engagement – Alpha USA
Fellowship Hall, Evangelical Center

Explore the mission, vision, and purpose behind Alpha—and the “why” that fuels its global reach. With more than 30 million participants worldwide, Alpha is a simple, proven outreach and evangelism tool designed to invite people into meaningful conversations about life, faith, and Jesus. Whether you’re considering Alpha for your church, home, or community, this session will provide insight and inspiration to help you take the next step. Learn how Alpha helps cultivate a culture of invitation and hospitality, listening and prayer in your church and how Alpha aligns with the Global Methodist Church’s commitment to making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly as we spread Scriptural holiness across the globe.

Pass It On: Reaching and Raising Young Adults Through
Intergenerational Ministry

Jessica Avery, Awakening Project
Music Room (104), Evangelical Center

Across many churches, one of the clearest questions is this: Where are the young adults, and how do we reach them? Many leaders long to see emerging generations rooted in faith, yet feel unsure where to begin or how to meaningfully connect. This workshop is designed especially for leaders who care deeply about young adults and want to play a meaningful role in their spiritual lives. Together, we will explore a practical and hopeful vision for engaging and discipling young adults through intergenerational relationships. Rather than relying on large programs or specialized ministries, we will focus on simple, relational approaches that can begin in any church, even from scratch.

In this session, you will:

  • Understand the spiritual landscape young adults are navigating today and why many feel disconnected from the Church.
  • Rediscover the biblical and Wesleyan vision for older generations passing on faith to younger ones through relationships.
  • Identify the unique role you can play in encouraging, stabilizing, and walking with young adults.
  • Learn simple, repeatable ways to build trust and meaningful relationships across generations.
  • Explore how to create spaces where young adults can share their questions, grow in faith, and discern their calling.

You do not need to be an expert in youth culture to impact young adults. What matters most is your willingness to be present, to listen, to share your life with God, and to walk alongside them with humility and hope. Passing on the faith is not complicated, but it is essential. This is an invitation to step into that calling and help a new generation take hold of life in Christ.
