Today, the President Pro Tem of the Northeast Provisional Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church, Reverend Steven Taylor, announced the selection of Jacqueline Kim as the first Lay Leader of the new conference. Ms. Kim grew up in Queens, NY, and moved up to Albany, NY, after witnessing 9/11. She attended SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Purchase. Jacqueline is a Principal Consultant focused on Organizational Change Management for the global tech firm Presidio. She is also a published author of two books.

Jacqueline is a Certified Lay Minister and a member of the Global Methodist Church Lay Equipping Team; she also serves the Amsterdam Methodist Church. She has the spiritual gift of teaching and ministry. She has served as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Group Director, leader, mentor, and preacher in Campus Ministry, small group Bible Studies leader, and more recently, Co- Director and Instructor for Lay Servant Ministries in her former denomination for Upper New York.

When selected from among many qualified and passionate candidates, she stated, “I am passionate about the Global Methodist Church’s full reliance on biblical truth and the responsibility we each have to live out our faith with grace. We must continue to focus on planting and growing local churches as a nexus for nurturing communities of faith and supporting that growth with a new Holy Spirit-inspired sense of stewardship of Christ’s Church through humble servant leadership.” She added, “I am inspired to take all my experience and gifts to help others connect with Christ-centered relationships through the Holy Spirit. And, as lay Sisters and Brothers in Christ, we need to walk alongside one another as we journey together to follow Jesus. And to see where He leads us!”

Jacqueline will serve as a member of the Conference Leadership Council, a vital part of the Board of Ministry and the Lay Equipping Team, and will soon embark on a virtual listening tour to gather church lay leaders together to build a new model of lay leadership in the Global Methodist Church.
